🌍 Launched at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, WTTC's Net Zero Roadmap for Travel & Tourism shows a 27% increase in businesses setting climate targets over three years, with 53% of 250 analyzed companies committed as of 2023, up from 42% in 2021. One-third of these businesses align with Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) goals. The Travel & Tourism sector's carbon emissions were 6.5% of global emissions in 2023, down from 7.8% in 2019, a 10.2% reduction in greenhouse gas intensity. Aviation, cruise, and accommodation industries reduced carbon intensity by 6% and 11% respectively since 2019. The roadmap aims for net zero by 2050 and emphasizes sector alignment, transparency, and the role of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) to reduce the aviation carbon footprint by up to 80%.
