The Case for a Standardized RFP Process in Restaurants
💾 At MURTEC 2025, Skip Kimpel and Christopher Sebes highlighted the benefits of standardizing RFPs using Restaurant Technology Network (RTN) standards to improve efficiency and interoperability in restaurant technology. The lack of industry standards has made technology integration complex and costly. RTN's standards, focused initially on menu data, now cover transaction, customer, inventory, and timekeeping data. Inclusion of RTN standards in RFPs pressures vendors to adopt best practices, reducing costs and simplifying technology transitions. Collaboration via RTN helps address real-world issues, promoting operational efficiency and innovation.
